I am hoping this post gets to Eric Dankel.

I am curious to know what sort of settings and gear ratio you would use with this motor speedo competition for a fast open outdoor track.

me too

hi,
my setup
SXX StockSpec V2 (3-5-5-0)
LRP X12 13,5T (ºººº) (75ºCelcius) (it has a LRP fan)
chassis: T3, FDR: 6.13 (84/26t)
battery: VTEC 5300mAh/40C

Track: Asphalt, quick, grip, big, 65meters strait (Cancela - Funchal)

I need more speed exiting the corners,
should I change the motor timing?
if I change it, do I have to reduce the pinion
should I increase the Fell or the Boost?
should I try 3-7-7-0 on ESC?

thanks for any help

more boost more timming higher ratio (smaller pinion or bigger spur) :D
same temp more speed

i start with 7.2 ratio with gm esc and gm hard magnet motor in stock and i adding timming (or boost) to non killable motor temp (normal 90 deg. but X12 to 120-130 deg.)

I hope this helps :D

Ps. at the training watch temp. every 2 min or even minute !

I never had used the stock motor 13.5 on big asphalt track, but with 0000 on motor you can get more power but less rpm.

If the track is too fast, you can try this. Change to 0 for example.

Regards.

When working with power programms the gearing can be sometimes strange or in other words: other than you are used to it.
Also with the Torque/Feel you are above what LRP suggest for TW and 13,5T. I would go back and check different gearings.
As said check you temp every 1-2 minutes to see at what temperature it settles.

Offtopic: I was last year on Madeira but didnt know about a RC Car track there. Otherwise I would stepped by.

Totally fast circuit. Wide track for 1/10.

Try to squeeze the motor and speed control, and check the temperature every round.

Good luck

Hi,
have tried today, decrease pinion to 20T (84Tgear) and changed timing from ºººº to ººº and increased the boost to 7, but almost same times for lap, but a little bit of more speed exiting corners.
Should I increase the timing to ºº and decrease the pinion to 18T?

New setup:
SXX StockSpec V2 (3-5-7-0)
LRP X12 13,5T (ººº) (65ºCelcius) (it has a LRP fan)
chassis: T3, FDR: 7.98 (84/20t)
battery: VTEC 5300mAh/40C

I would like to know what setup (esc settings, gear and pinion) the top drivers use, do they use the standard firmware in this case 4.4?

PS: other racer with same chassis and a GM esc and motor is 0,5s faster

Thanks for any advise

[quote="Marek Gadomski"] (normal 90 deg. but X12 to 120-130 deg.)

I think Marek either has a rich father or gets his motors free :D :D :D :D

Seriously, the X12s are very robust at high heats but 130 race after race would worry me.

Your FDR looks good. I don't know anything about the stockspec ESC, can you add the timing you want or do you select a mode?

With full timing ESCs all the X12 guys I know keep the motor timing at 0000 and add the timing via the software - typically 60-65ish in total but of course that depends on a lot of other parameters (that is 10.5 but I assume 13.5 would be similar in principle).

Having said all that I must say I did the other week reduce the timing I added to the 13.5 X12 and added another tooth to the pinion with great success

Did you ever tried to change the gearing to something at 6 and reduce the ESC to 3-3-3-0?
I mean trying to reduce the ESC Power and make a longer gearing.

GM Motors could be stronger thats why the other guy is faster.
Especially the track doesnt look tight so more speed gives better lap times.
Also there will be some point where you drive to bad due to too high speeds.

yes I have tried that, and it dosent run fast,
las time tried this setup:
3-6-5-0
20T/84T
motor temp: 85ºCelcius
but the boost comes to late

will try again, reduce pinion to 18, and increase feeling to 7 or 8

@ duratev
please listen to sypher, don´t waste amperes in acceleration if you can drive fluently at your track. set feeling down and give one step after another more boost.
I drove my 13.5T Speedpassion V3 at 87/27 with max boost. I guess the LRP X12 can handle more power and is a stronger magnet and rotor inside.
also I heard to set the motor at "oo" because the internal timing of the X12 is higher as expected.....and "OVERTIMING" of motors produce heat and power-lost, not more.....

regards
Harald

@ marek
Do you know the melting point of some solder joints??

some are >183 deg. Celsius-

160 deg.C is very, very near, because you are measuring OUTSIDE!!!!!

Another question is what temperature a rotor loses its magnetic force at. I heard a lot that 90 to 100°C is ok but I don't know the "certain" temperature. Or is it a pending crossover? So far I couln'd get my GM BL Pro 6.5T with Genius 90 2 hotter than 67°C (datalogger, no fans, with power curves/programs).
