I have a quick question about the ackerman settings on the t3'11. I was under the impression that by adding more shims and making the steering arms less straight this added more ackerman effect, but I recently bought the setup workbench android application by Martin Crisp, and in it there are two photos comparing the T3'11 with 0mm and 3mm of ackerman shims and the 3mm photo has less ackerman.

So, is this correct? More shims = less ackerman = (in general) more steering

This depends on the definition.

Often RC-Drivers say, they use more Ackermann, when they add more shims at the steering linkage. But what it does in effect is, it decreases the difference between the outside and inside wheel steering angle.

You can express ackermann in a percentage. If both front wheels steer parallel, you have 0% ackermann. If the inside wheel and the outside wheel steer according to the circles on which they roll statically, then you have 100% ackermann (the inner wheel steering more than the outer wheel).
Usually you want something between 0 and 100%.
Depending on car geometry you can also have more than 100% (use the shorter point at the steering arm) or even negative numbers (usually not possible on rc cars).

So obviously the app uses the vehice-dynamics definition of "more ackermann", while you were under the usual RC-Drivers impression... ;-)
