Hello to everybody,

I want to know what are the best brass weights to be put in the car, to increase more or less 150 - 180grms without changing much chassis stiffness.

Thanks!!!

Hi,

it does not change the flex much but mainly the weight balance. With moving weight more to the rear, you have better car rotation and more on power steering.

You can always mount weight as close to the middle of the chasis just beside engine mounts and beneath fuel tank. This way you get reach the minimum weight and you basically don't change weight balance.

Sure...
Just i you use the brass batery plate first tighten the screws completely and latter loosen them half a turn to alow the chasis to have some flex on that point. If you fully tighten the three screws the car will be very rigid

Just have to try it Mark...
If you fully screw all brass weights chassis will be more stiff (you have the option of mounting the front brass weight in flex form or stiff form, for instance).

How much it increases stiffness?

Maybe not too much (enough to feel a difference in car's performance that's for sure)

Hello Mark,

of course you are not going to leave the engine mounts loose (what's the point of doing that).

About battery plate, it just acts like any other plate you screw to the chasis. More screws...les flex.

If you want to add weight to the car but you don't ant to vary chasis flex (or vary the minimum) you can mount the front chasis weight in flex form and the battery plate loosening each screw half a turn (it will never come completely loose and you will not see the batteries fall).

With the rear weight you can do the same. As we don't have the option of mounting it in flex form (like in front) you can un screw a bit all four screws (should use thread lock) in order to minimize the rigidness of the chasis.

As far as other weights are concerned (side weights under fuel tank) if you use XRAY round weights you are just using one screw for each weight therefore stiffness of the chasis is not afected. Stifness is only varied when two or more screws join parts within them.

Nowadays flex seems to be a crucial adjustment in car's performance and every small detail that you take into account will change handling of the car.

All the best

I don't mean loose (completely loose)... just loosen the front screw which holds in plastic half a turn. That should be enough. This you can do with out a problem.
