I posted a thread a while ago regarding the effects of toe in / out has on our cars.

I thought I had it straight in my own mind but during yesterdays racing I became completely confused.

I was able to gain some rear end grip by increasing the rear toe from 2 to 3 degrees.

If the rear wheels are toe in 2 forces are set up when the car is moving, towards the centre of the car. If both sides are toed in equally these forces will balance out so the car will go in a straight line!

When cornering the centrifugal force due to the weight of the car comes into play pushing the car to the side. If this centrifugal force exceeds the friction offered by the tyres the car will oversteer. It was my understanding that more toe in equates to the tyres slightly slipping thus making it easier for the rear easier to loose traction.

I understand that the forces set up by the rear toe, acting towards centre of car (Mentioned above) have to be overcome to loose traction. Therefore, more toe = more force = more centrifugal force required to overcome force+friction of tyre. BUT, the toe in force is equal and opposite from both sides of the car. So this cannot contribute.

TONYV. HELP PLEASE!!!

Yes, the front should probably be harder and possibly the rear softer. Also try running less downstop (more droop). What maybe be happening is that the car dives down at the outside front so much that the rear inside downstop causes the rear wheel to lift. If all that doesn't help try a front anti-roll bar.

Hi

im running blue springs at front light blue at the rear on rubber tires

i always have 5mm ride height

it doesnt do it every corner and i can control it sometimes

it could be the lifting a wheel that is creating the loss of grip

i do realy strugle with not enough rear grip and very rarely get it planted
like the team drivers do
if i could only get the back end planted it could be very fast

ive tried loads of diffrent tires and its not the tires

That what my car was doing before I got the the stage mentioned above. Try harder front then softer rear. How much rear droop are you running?

Very difficult to tell without seeing the car though!

just checked the spring rates: -

Put the light blue on the front and blue on the rear as a starting point. I usually allways run a harder spring on the front than the rear.

should be better but if still not good enough follow advice given in my previous post :D

Light blue is softer than blue (or dark blue).
