Simply put.... you get what you pay for. I weighed my XB8 on a digital scale dry (no fuel) with body ready to run and it came out at 7lbs 9 oz. My buddy weighed his Hyper PCR and equally equipped it was 8lbs 6 oz.
Maybe the extra weight will help in the traction dept. but honestly the rotating mass and extra weight to me mean more power used to go forward faster with less wear and tear on the engine and maybe better fuel economy in a race.
Back to the subject again. I ran the white springs at the Canadian Winter Nationals where Xray qualified 1,2 and 4 on a track that had a very interesting rough center section and quite frankly they are a definate must have. The XB8 took on the rough stuff better than any other car IMHO plus the lighter weight of the car makes me more inclined to go lighter on the suspension.
I also used the front brace which again is a great add on. After casing a jump in a qualifier and breaking the stock front brace plastic end I decided to switch and while I didn't really see a difference in chassis stiffness I was more confident in the brace. And eye candy don't hurt neither.
