This was the setup I started with on Sunday;

It had very little turn in which was costing me a lot of time, other than that the setup was good and stable.

What would YOU have changed to get better initial steering?

I did make a few changes from that setup which greatly improved things, but I'm interested in where the rest of you (and particularly team drivers) would have started just to check my setup thoughts are in the right direction.

When I've had a few responses I'll list what I changed

Thanks
Skiddins

Interestingly, the only one of those I tried was the thinner oil, I went down to 450 front and 350 rear.

But I also changed to 3.0 front springs and went down to 0.5mm on the C-Hub shim.

Sound like sensible changes or have I gone too far/the wrong way?

things i would try would be:

shim on steering knuckle 1-1.5mm
1 hole rear hub
1.15 shim on front track width
front shock position 3
thicker rear roll bar
higher rear ride height
H roll centers

Hi,
I had the same problem. Last night was only my second time out with the car, and unfortunately I am running a spool on a very tight indoor carpet track. The changes I made were :-
moved front shocks in at the top
changed to softer springs
then tried softer tyres,
then the thing that made the real difference - removed the front anti-roll bar. This made a huge difference, and although not perfect, it made the car drivable and able to get around the track. I still have the option of trying harder tyres on the back which I'll probably try next week.

Good luck !!

I would make the front smaller for racing on asphalt. Try the 1.15 mm shim instead of the 1.5 mm shim. I would also set the front shocks more up, probably hole nr 2.

I could not figure out what holes you used with the top links. If you need more steering you can change them from long to short. For droop I allways have 5.5 front and 4.8 rear. Works best for me. I also like in stock racing harder rollbars. 1.6 in front and 1.4 in the rear. Shock oil for outside.400 front 350 rear or 450 front and 400 rear. Springs 3.0 or 2.8 in front and 2.6 or 2.8 rear depending on track.
