we have/had several reasons:
- the same condition for all teams,
- cheaper solution (you needn't compare several types of tires)
- If you compare a persitence of foam and rubber tires for endurance then you spend 4-5 sets of the rubber tires compared to 8-12 sets of form tires = cheaper solution
- rain... we usualy race on outdoor track and the rubber tires are better for handling on wet ashalt than foams
- historical context => we started with the endurance races 10 or 11 years ago and we raced with Tamiya F103 (LM) chassis. The initial idea was to race with cheap chassis (high number of chassis abrod) and enjoy races. There were only 2 types of tires provided by Tamiya (rubber A&B) - the foam tires were forbidden by Tamiya (cheating with tires of different producers on a big and local tamiya cups). At the end of the F103 era we had to do decision about future of this racing category. We decided to switch to F103GT (due to easy conversion from F103/LM chassis). Maybe you know, the F103GT uses TC tires.
- We prefer the equal conditions for teams more than unreasonable costs in this area.
