2 buggys recently since 2010 update that I know of, have stripped servo horns in the steering. Have the plastics been changed? Because mine from before the 2010 have always been the best.

I have only stripped one of the plastic Xray horns in the past 5 years, for steering. So just to be on the safe side I have switched to the Hudy aluminum horn just on steering so that chance does not happen again.

I use the plastic for the throtle because it stays tight and does not get sloppy like aluminum can.

I don't think there is any change in the plastic, it's pretty darn good already.

same here....

only striped a steering one on my XT8 quite a while ago. but that was the only one in my last 5 years as well.

good news is if your not feeling real sure on the plastic servo horns HUDY makes some aluminum ones for our cars that are the right length and etc.

daz.fx - what servo did you use? Although your servo might have the output shaft with 25 teeth like Futaba, it might not be ideal fit :!: One extreme example is Associated/ACE/ThunderTiger servo, which is 25 teeth but to be honest you can't use any other horn than original. Same goes for 23 and 24 teeth.

P.S. Hudy aluminium horns are great.

It wasn't me it was newer versions of mine that went. That's what alerted me as I've never done one and never heard of it before, then suddenly 2 from different people, who know what there doing.
It's probably nothing just thought I'd put it out there to see if things had changed like size or composition.

I don't use the ally ones, i like the extra flex i might (will) need in a crash.
