if you only have a nimh charger then buy a nimh battery . nimh has a memory so will need discharged at 1 amps to 0.9v per cell (5 cells =4.5v) then charge at 0.5 amp takes about 2 hrs to do it ...if you dont do it this way eventually you will get false peaks and a half charged battery .

lipo only if you run high voltage servos like Jason says
life plug straight in but require a compatable charger for them .

No kidding. I ran the Protek packs last year and all 3 I used swelled up like a tick over the course of three races or so then failed.
A main warranted replacements but what a hassle. If yours never swelled maybe the design is better.

If you buy HUDY starter box you will probably have best in the market.
I have tryed many starter boxes and this one just last LONG.

I have been running LiPo 2200mah batteries in my Truggy and Buggy for well over a year now with no issues. I originally had regulators on both, but have the Truggy on High voltage servos now. I haven't had any issues other than the regulator coming unglued and flopping about.
its important to keep them outside the battery box as they can get warm apparently (never noticed this myself, just didn't have room in battery box as I was using Nomadio Radio gear at the time and they have a big reciever)

they fit Snuggly and have a hard plastic case that hasn't cracked or worn through. I wrapped insulation tape round each end to make a tightish fit and a wearing layer, and another bit around the middle doubled over as a handle to get them out easily.
