I have a big issue with my diff - since ive had the kit there has been a tight spot on the diff, I used it for one meeting and swapped it out for the gear diff. But now I want to go back to re-try my ball diff.. Trouble is, No matter what I try I cannot get rid of this tight spot (theres 2 of them in the 360 rotation).

Also and quite possible related, whenever I tighten up the thrust the diff is either free to rotate (with tight spots) or it goes REALLY right and does not freely rotate.

I am completely lost on what could be the issue with this.

My previous schumacher diffs were always spot on and perfect, free and smooth. Im just very perplexed by this

Check to make sure the concave washers are installed correctly.
Its easy to get them mixed up or one around the wrong way.
Please check.
Cheers

Ok, so it appears the Conical washers in the diff aren't right  I suppose its fortunately the cheapest part to replace :D.

Comparing them to the 009 ones, the kit ones I got were rough textured and a dull grey - compared to the 009 ones that were shiny black. However putting the 009 conical washers in my t311 diff and its perfectly smooth again! im not saying its the colour, but more probably the shape - as one doesnt feel as concaved as the others, so i suspect it may have been over-tightened at some point and collapsed one side

Glad I found the problem :) something else for others to keep an eye on?

Ok after further poking about and changing outdrives - the longer Outdrive (that the thrust sits in) is causing this tight spot, ive also noticed that where the Circlip fits, it is really loose - freely rotates and has some vertical movement. When using this outdrive on a smooth diff - a tight spot appears. I suspect that this outdrive is the original cause and has damaged the conical washers in my attempt to tighten it enough to stop it slipping. Anyway doesnt look like its something that can be fixed without being replaced :S. Ill contact Xray direct in the morning. 8)
