I'm sure that Hyper 7 Torsen Diff will not fit in XB8 gearbox. The modification to fit Hyper Torsen Diff in XB8 gearbox would be too much, almost impossible.. The closest thing to fit in XB8 gearbox is Torsen for MUGEN.. But stil you have to modified a bit. You should reduce the size of the conical gear to 38~39mm, then it will fit in XB8 gearbox.. One more important thing is that you have to use Mugen 13T bevel gear..
Torsen is abbreviation from Torgue Sensing.. LSD is making limited slip differential not Torsen tipe diff.. LSD is making limited slip diff for XB8..
Florianlaux - "About making sense or not".. Last time I use Torsen diff when I still drive Kyosho MP-6 back in 1998-1999.. I was having a hard time to find driveable setting for my car. But after I find the proper setting, I'm really getting good benefit from it. Faster lap, consistency for long main (60 minutes), good fuel consuption, & less tire wear..
I could say that I have better consistency for long main is because conventional diff is using silicone oil to act as torque splitter. The bad thing is that silicone oil will burn out in high temperature condition and the viscosity will break down under heavy loads.. While, Torsen diff is only using it's mechanical cleverness to split the torque, the oil that has to put in the diff is only for lubrication.
So, I think If some company make one good & realiable Torsen diff for XB8, I really would like to try.. Some company already make Torsen for Mugen that could be modified to fit in XB8 gearbox but In my opinion the one that's available just barely reliable for nowadays racing condition..
Hope this information could help you..
