I need to pick up a 1/8 e-buggy within the next month and I'm not looking forward to doing the 808e conversion.

Any updates on when this is coming out? Seems unusual to announce in Feb and go completely silent for five months.

Buy the 2010 spec sell the nitro stuff and buy the rc-monster mount and battery tray it's a direct fit and it is the same layout as the one Xray showed a few months ago

i had one in hand and was NOT impressed with the factory 808e...... not up to xray standards of design in my book. i expected more thought to be put into it atleast. Just a couple of changes and they could be very nice.

Rc-monster will have a full chassis kit before long that will bump any 808 to 10spec length with no need for center driveshaft replacement.

I ran the prototype at the alabama manufactures shootout and ive been running it locally and it is very very nice. absolutely love the buggy. (i wish i could say the same about my truck, but i think its cursed)

Here are the results from last weekend with both my rc-monster/xray electrics.

@ Rootar:

You might be the one having the answers for me I also converted an XT8 09 to brushless which makes the car a bit heavier so I consider replacing the springs. (see my topic a little bit down the list)
Looking at the picture of your XT8 I dont see the original Blue springs; which springs are you running?? violet (one step harder) or purple (2 steps harder) ???

Thanks.

The purple springs actually look pink to me too. On my XT8e I run the purple on a smooth track and for rough track with a softer suspension setup I run either violet or stock blue springs.

I'm hoping it went dark on the 808e since february becasue they went back to the drawing board a bit and refined some of the design. The battery tray as it appeared in the photos looked like something that would just need to be pulled out and replaced with something that would acually protect the battery a bit. I expect nothing but a well thought out high quality kit comming from Xray and I am hoping that is what is taking so long.

Russ, I have Mike working on a chassis for my 808 as well.

Something I thought was very funny in your pictures is that you won first place at the "nitro" challenge with your electrics. Im sure you pissed a number of folks off with that. My experience arround here has been that the nitro guys dont mind the electrics as long as you arent beating them. Once that happens they are no longer as friendly.

actually i won all 3 electric classes at the nitro challenge.... they ran nitro buggy and nitro truggy also....

surprisingly electric truggy is catching on quick at the track now, we have 6-9 atleast every race been outnumbering the e-buggies all year. i know this weekend there will be even more e-truggies out there because some guys from out of town are coming down.

hi rootar

waht electric are yo rnning in yor 808 buggy
i thik you drive softcase lipos . if you rn hardcase lipos, the body dont fit i think.
here in germany we must have hardcase lipos.

the try of the xray showing 808e is very cool. its just designed fort hardcase lipos and it looks good.
hardcase is protect enough for lipo.

hope for answeres

thank you

im running an rc-monster 808 chassis kit (prototype) with a tekin rx8/1700 buggy combo, a 5s 3300 Hyperion G3 vx lipo, and ace 1015 servo. Its great setup with good runtime and yes the body fits great, its not raised up at all and neither are the body mounts.

hardcases are over rated if you use a decent battery tray or box or w/e then there is no need for hard case lipos. If your track makes you use them then i feel sorry for ya because youll never find a body that looks or fits worth a damn with those huge batteries in there.

actually i think hard case lipos are dangerous. u cant see any minor swelling or damage to the cells. just have to wait till they blow up like a baloon and split the case open.
i would like a rc monster type tray with a top cover to it instead of hard case.

i use a hyperion 5s 4350 battery and it fits.
