I run the Orange Kyosho ones.. and is a perfect fix... As I was warned of the issue.. put them in from the get go.. try them if you can source them.. they work well

Since I know Bren doesn't run lipo, I'll have a go at this one for him :D

The Nosram/LRP branded lipo stick pack (older ones are rated 2200mah, newer 2400mah) will JUST fit in the Xray radio box. You are advised to wrap the pack as in the pics below (click for bigger pics) to prevent damage to the wiring and also to protect the pack from rubbing damage. The most common area for this is where there's a plastic lump in the back of the battery box where the screw holds it to the chassis. I drop a small piece of foam in there to stop it punching a hole through the pack, but you will still need to replace the tape periodically when it wears.

The physical dimensions of the pack above are 85mm long x 17mm wide x 27mm tall - whatever you go for, if it's more than a mm bigger in any direction have a measure up before you buy!

Having said all that, there's been a couple of threads on here about li-fe packs which avoid many of the disadvantages of lipo (don't need a regulator, don't explode/catch fire if mistreated) and Hyperion do a pack that should be a perfect fit. They don't appear to last as long between charges as lipo, but you can charge them silly fast (check the C rating of the packs) so if you've got 2 you can easily swap them out as needed.

Don't try to compare mah ratings across different type packs - I run a 2200mah lipo and after 2x 20 minute finals, plus 4x 5 minute qualifiers, plus practice, plus messing about in the pits and warming the engine before a heat I can only put 950mah back in a pack at the end of the day!

Your nimh cells should make a 45 minute final.I use 1400 mah nimh battery's (2 years old) and can use them almost for an hour.Maybe the cells of the battery are bad. Also check if the travel of the servo's is set right.

I will also post in this Bren's topic  I have run the Nosram/LRP older pack (probably was 2200mAh) for almost two years now :!: It has hold up VERY well. I Hope that the new one is as good.

Wrap the whole pack with electric-tape. It protects the pack and you can re-wrap it every few races. My pack looked like new after a year of use. The "lip" for pulling out the pack from the radio-box is a MUST (like you see in the picture above). It should fit nice and tight, but if there's some extra room just put some double-sided tape to the pack.

You have to have some headroom with the capacity. If you end up having a muddy 45-minute finale the current consumption can go up A LOT! Or you get some weird steering mechanism bind issue and drain the battery like that.

With BLS351+BLS451 with LiPo + Castle BEC @ 5.8V my 808 uses about 500mAh for 30minutes. With 2400 LiPo you could run 2h+ or run 1h A-mains with a lot of extra capacity. BTW When you are not using regulator you will drain more power from the pack!

Bren..on the xt8...got to the track today with pink springs on and they were def. too hard...I went down to blue and it felt better. The track is very bumpy and has a rhythm section and whoops at one end. Takes a toll on the suspension. I am attaching a photo of the track to give you an idea. I couldnt capture the whole track but I did what I could. Im thinking of going doen to bluegrey springs. Not sure though. My front oil too is kinda on the high side but I was experimenting with Wheelers setup and have his oil combo. I like the way the rear feels but I may want to go down to maybe 600cst up front. What is your opinion on that as well as shock positioning? I currently have it at stock settings at the front, 2nd hole starting from the inside on the tower, and on the rear they are at the 3rd hole from the inside going outwards. Should I stand them up even more in you opinion. I did feel a good difference in traction when moving to the blue springs but will this improve if I use the blue greys? The oils felt ok though, handled the rough stuff very well but on occasion the rear would pop up too much. Also front sway bar or no?
