XRAY - Model racing cars

hi guys i just got an xray xb8 2nd hand in good condition , now i hear from the other side that this car has maintenance problems like parts breaking or wearing to quickly is this right? . I am now thinking of getting rid of it and getting a mugan .
just don't want to waste money on something that's gonna break all the time i do realise wear and tear go with the game but not excessive

please help on this

Not sure where you heard this as the xb8 range is probably one of the most reliable & durable on the market. If the car you bought is the TQ or EC it is bomb proof. The 808 will require maintenance on the pinion bearings but this is the sacrifice for a lighter faster car. If your car is the 08 or 09 model with bearing spacer expect 5 hours before much work is required or replacements. THe 10 spec & 3 bearing design expect 6-8 hours, both designs personally is not bad life exspectancy & most racers will strip it down after most events anyhow just to re lube. Composite parts very strong & dont break, if on the off chance you do what ever you hit will be more damaged than your car.

You wont be dissaponted with your xray but would advice stripping it down first just to see how it works & re lube things for peace of mind. Heard the saying in good condition before what is one persons is another description as wrecked.

If it was a 10 spec it would of been sold as it due to being new, but visible difference is wider rear section just in front of rear down stops on chassis & servo tray above steering servo is a single strip of carbon where on 08/09 models is double.

08/09 cars are very similar & differences where in drive train & shocks but all of this was easy enough to upgrade..
Gearbox case visible difference is where bearings sit for pinion gear, on out side next to chassis brace will be a chamfer for clearance, this bulhead design gives better support. Pinion bearing spacer & bearings with metal shield one side rubber the other. Rubber shock boots all add up to an 09 car. Other changes where larger or chunkier ball ends but unless you had the 2 different types in your hand it would be hard to tell.
If none of this its an 08 & would advice getting the 09 bearing spacer & gearbox cases F&R as it will mean greater reliability in the drive train..

I run 2 XB8TQ's and I can swear by there strength, many Mugen guys have watched my car fly over the fencing around the track and tumble telling me it must be broken, only thing I have broken so far is a shockie shaft.

JUST ORDERED NEW 808 2010 SPEC NEED POWER LEANING TOWARDS OS V-SPEC WORLD CHAMP. ANY HELP DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE MOTOR OTHER THAN WHAT IVE READ ONLINE.

I've got a question about 808e. I want to buy it as a second model, but I want to use it just for fun. I've got some esc, motors and batteries, but for 1:10 cars. Can I mount there normal brushless for 1/10? I think yes - with use a underlay and something another but -
IS IT POSSIBLE? I want to know it before i buy it
