Hi guys,

I primarily use 36r Speedmind pre mount sorex tyres and I struggle to get more than 5 good runs in 17.5 stock before they start to ring of Death. I only rotate them front to rear as they seem to be affected equally on both sides of the car. With my old T2'008 I changed the set up to cure this but it made the car handle very dull and unable to cope with traffic during races. Our track has 2 long hi speed sweepers, one left and the other right. I am moving to the T3 platform now and with it being winter most of the place and its summer here, asphalt set ups are thin on the ground.

Im after some advice on changing roll centers and camber links to achieve better tyre wear. Or any other tips for the T3 and 17.5 stock asphalt. I see quite a few set ups with guys running high rolls in the front and low in the rear. IF someone could explain this a little? Im also curious about how going from long to short camber links and adding or taking away shims at the blocks affects handling.

Currently Im running Kit set up minus the center post and the servo saver is in the rear position, ackerman 2. Im not struggling at all for speed or handling im just chewing through tyres at an alarming rate and I guess this may be the price for going really fast. Maybe i need to also look at changing to different inserts to get better tyre wear. Im not sure. Im going to the track again this Wednesday for a practice session and would like to try a lot of things to see how they affect the car and my driving style.

Any help is appreciated, Thanks in advance Benzaah

That wear is on the inside of the rim and is happening on 3 corners of the car. This is from a t2'008 as i have not run the t3 yet. We just had a heat wave here for 5 days above 40c. I normally run 1.5 camber all round and have longer links. I did run the new roll center adjusters in the T2 and found them a bit hit and miss. I have the old ones ready to try in the T3 if it rotates a bit too much for my liking. This is the set up that i am going to try out tomorrow and see how it goes.

Matt, this is the track. It is freshly painted so this is why some of the tyre wear is happening. I am not running that last posted set up. A few posts before is what i am running in the T3 currently and the E2'008 set up is what was working for me before so im trying to figure out how this is going to work on the t3. Will see how testing goes tomorrow[/img]

Wow, with track like that, I wish I could be living there to.
Well maybe not, I would probably melt down in all these heat.
Good luck and have fun in racing.

Wow that track looks awesome!

The Kit T3 setup will almost definitely work round there I think, Only thing I can think of changing is for the technical stuff putting the front roll centre blocks on +0.75.

I hope your driving line doesn't represent the line you have put on the picture! :P

Here is what i ended up with after today's session. No ring of death but My tyres came unglued after 6 runs and i did not want to waste new rubber so i put some take off 32s and the car was a little tail happy.

I tried the high and low roll centers front and rear with no luck. Settled back with the standard ones and then took out the L1/2 blocks which took away the extra rotation i had. Thinking of putting them back in the rear next session. Going to add 2mm of shim back in the rear link and see how that affects the rear and also add another half degree of toe in on the rear. We really need to try some inserts with a small air gap as we are seeing the insert rolling over inside the tyre causing some of this death ring.

Thoughts anyone.
