Hello,
I bought the NT1 EC kit last week and I started building it. Yesterday I was taking a look at my car and I realised that the ventilated break disk and the lightweight 2-speed shaft have some rust on them. They have brown spots all over their surface. They had no rust when I got them out of the box. Is this normal? What should I do?
Thank you.

Where did you store the car?
Was it in a shed with a high moisture content in the air?

How bad is the rust?
Is it only discoloured?

You could try lightly sanding the shaft as you rotate it.. use emery paper (1000 grit) this way you will not do damage but only remove the rust.
To do the brake disk place the paper on a flat surface and slide the disk on it.

I have had similar issues racing in the rain and this solved it.

But is this normal? I had my HPI R40 for 3 years in my storage room where the humidity is much higher and after 3 years it had no signs of rust...
I think it is only discoloured but it has only been a week and even this doesn't seem normal to me. It wasn't even out of my home... Has anyone else noticed something like that?

I dont think it is normal but it is not performance affecting.
Have you tried contacting the supplier?

Not yet. I wanted to ask in the forum first to learn if someone else has experienced something like that and to get an official answer. I had never seen rust on rc parts...

Like I say I don't think it is normal at all. I have been racing 11 years and have only seen rust due to wet weather racing and never on a new kit.

Is it possible that it isn't rust and is actually some teflon?
Are you able to post a picture?

Here is a picture of the disk break. It is really hard to take a picture of the rust because the parts are shinny. But you can see the spots and that it is not so shinny any more... :?

It must be rust because it was nothing there and after a couple of days I saw all these spots.

The looks like it definatly is not teflon it appears to me like salt water corrosion.
Was the kit delivered by sea or air do you know?

I don't know. I bought it from my local dealer of Xray. But there was no rust when I opened the kit... I would have noticed it...

My advice is go back to your local dealer who should be able to sort something out for you

I agree that this is the best to do. But I also had a defect bearing in my kit and I got it changed so I first wanted to know if everyone experiences something like that and if it is normal...

I am still expecting an official answer from Xray.
I didn't expect so little interest on an issue about products quality...
