+1 for the xray ally shoes and hard spring, they work perfect and are hard wearing. you know where you stand with these one less thing to worry about.

Regular shoes, 2x1.0 and 1x0.9 springs.
You don't need that silly washer with these shoes, should last longer than stock as well.

Can you post a link to that shoes and springs.

The Xray 3 shoe clutch will give typical 3 shoe wear (the aluminum will mushroom, the clutch bell will groove and the pins will wear with time) but I will say that I have used only the Xray clutch system and I will continue because it works great!

For the grooving of the clutch bell I just take a sanding drum on a dremel and smooth out the inside and the clutch bells last a long time in doing this. Some of my clutch bells are over a year old and I'm still using them.

I also use a dremel to clean the burs off of the out side of the shoes and a cutting tool on the dremel to clean out the spring groove. The shoes have good long lasting wear and I don't replace shoes until the spring groove has worn down just before is causes the spring to rub on the clutch bell. If you do this then you can make Xray springs last through muliple sets of shoes.

The pins will wear over time but it takes many sets of clutch shoes to do so. Some of my fly wheels are well over a year old and I still use them.

I run all 1.0 springs on my buggy.

I run 2-1.0 spings and 1-1.1 spring on my truck. And if I want a little more pop for my truck then I go to 1.1 all the way.

As for bearings, I start with a new set for qualifying and then I instal a new set for the main. This is probably way more than most but with clutch bearings, since I keep plenty and are relativly inexpesive, I'm not going to wait for one to fail esecialy when I'm at a National race and have spent hundreds of dollars to get there.

I tear down my clutch after every race I go to, its just not something I'm not going to have a failure with when I can help it.

Lots of people want items that require less maitinence and you can get by with a Xray clutch for a few race meetings but I would not let it go any longer than that.

I'm just a maintinence hog and I attribute 100% of my success to that.
