I have not used the proline blue foams but hear they hold up as well as the AKA foams & are a bit softer. So when should you use the new style foams? Always!! Once you use the AKA foams you can not go back to using the old style foams.If you use the old foams in a long race(45min-1 hour) on abrasive dirt & are a decent driver the tires will probably wear out at the same time the foam turn to powder.If you use the old foams at the club level in short mains(15-20 min) the foams will be junk long before the tires especially if you run on a surface that is easy on tire wear. The only problem I have had with the AKA foams is they were too firm for my liking & I had to soften my suspention & with some tread patterns change setup to keep the car consistant because the foams are so firm until the foams were put into the second or third set of tires & then they were not that much softer just shaped better from use.

The proline new foams are said to be noticably softer than AKA so that should be just about what I was looking for & when they say stiffer than the last foams I have a hard time not seeing how anything could not be firmer than the too soft junk they had before.

So when to use the new foams? From a money,time,wear,& frustration standpoint ALWAYS,thats if they are as promised & not just hype.

Soft foams are for rough bumpy surface tracks with little grip.

I use the Aka foams allways. It's a rare cercumstance when they aren't the fastest.

Take some pics of buggies at your track in the highspeed corners. You'll notice that the softer foam filled tires fold over if the car hooks up and carves those turns well. Some to the point where the rim is nearly contacting the ground.

The stiff foam and bulging sidewalls of the Aka tires/foams prevent this. My setups changed very little when I switched to AKA. But I found my car to run much more consistantly with Ibeams and Gridirons.


Proline, :roll: , never again.

I agree, I always run AKA when I can.. sometimes I will run Proline, As there slightly cheaper.. but I normally run AKA inserts in Proline tyres.. if I run Proline tyres.. and try to Use AKA rims.. as they are nicer and better balanced. They do make the car feel more consistant.. which is a plus.. but could maybe go slighly lower on weight oil in shocks.. but thats prefrence
