XRAY - Model racing cars

I noticed the Hudy catalog offered a bump starter for 1/18th scale cars only.

What do those of you who run the 09 XT8 Truggy prefer to use?

My old OFNA box appears to have decided to stop working. Oh the motor turns fine. But now, all of a sudden, the wheel lacks a good 1/4 of an inch from meeting the flywheel. I didn't change anything, and it worked fine throughout tanks 1, 2, and part of three on break-in. Then, nothing.
Fortunately for the starter box the neighbor's children were close by and I didn't want them to witness a conniption fit so...I guess it could still be fixed.

the mugen seiki boxs are good

I use mugen box on all my cars,but that excludes xt8. Should work fine though as it has worked on all my other truggys & buggys.

OFNA does offer wheel replacements for almost all their boxes though if its not just that something has moved.

I'll dive into it and see. I just am having little patience now with all my old stuff as I have fought with it all for too long. My box is an old style with the huge motor and likely a worn out wheel. The gel cell is toast too but I am using a 12v jump start pack I got from sears for less than the cost of another gel cell and I don't have a gel cell charger. This Die-Hard jump start pack has a built in charger so it works out great and is a multi-purpose tool. I digress.

Assuming I can find a wheel for my box I'll start there but it wouldn't take much to get a new one befitting this new truggy.

What $40 extras would you need with the Mugen box?

I spoke incorrectly. Simply put, the Mugen box is $40 more than about any other I have looked at. And I didn't see $40 worth of difference in them is what I meant.

I looked at mine again today in the daylight and got it to work. So a new wheel is gonna fix me up I think at this point.

Got it . Just so you know what that extra $40 is for is a lack of size & weight. Next closest box is the new ofna truggy box wich is slightly bigger in every dimention & slightly heavyer but also a very good box from the ones I see used at the track. But is only $15 or so cheaper.Depends on your available space.

Thanks Butcher! Those "buttons" look like the shizzy for those running buggy AND truggy. I can see where those would really come in handy and well worth the price.

My box is an OFNA universal box so it has more slots and adjustment that the MUgen and even the OFNA truggy box. But I think the buttons will be useful for me down the road. RIght now I have an old junk OFNA 9.5 buggy but I imagine it will be replaced with an xray 808 probably next year. ( Haveta let the wife cool off awhile after this XT8 purchase....lol)

So my starter box will be mostly a single use application for the time being. I doubt my luck is good enough for the buttons to work with an XRay truggy and then an OFNA buggy. But then again after running an Xray truggy, I doubt I will even want to attempt to start anything else.....
