Hi,
1.5 hrs of track time; all 4 shock orings leaking. in my case the orings have swollen. you can see daylight between the shock shaft and the oring.
kit supplied shock oils and orings were used.

so much for the luxury & quality hoo haa xray spruke about on their packaging and media release.

my second xt8 2008; has 4hrs track time on the old type shocks since the last o/haul(Xray orings used here purchased Dec 2008) on the rear; dry as a parrots fart. the front 16mm big bores are dry too.

Xray need to take a long hard look at themselves and make some improvements on Quality Control. Need to stop living in the past and get their act together.
Will this be covered by waranty Mr Xray?

My guess is the orings are not suitable for silicon oils and that one of the oil additives is causing the orings to swell.

thats my lot on the shocks, the rest of it is ok so far.

Ian2009 does have a point, I have very recently since moved to Xray and after each track day had to replace the o-rings, its not seeping its leaking badly, I will have to seek alternative o-rings to solve the issue but cmon guys this one has been a problem for some months now :(

Is it definately the o-rings and not the manufacture process of the shock shaft, has it gone narrower?

I do love my 808 though this little issue (hopefully solved with other o-rings for now) is a bit of a problem, we all hope there will be a solution soon. :wink:

Are you guys using any green slime type of lube when you build the seals, or just silicone oil?
Mugen or possibly kyosho orings seem to be the fix.

Pretty much down to the o-rings not a problem with hard parts. You can keep trying x-ray brand o-rings till you get some that work,because some do or the mugen ones linked earlier are a guarenteed fix the first try. Either way dont procrastinate because it will just make you upset with the car when in reallity this is the best car made period.I am reminded of that every time I go to the track & see people with other brands break their cars & have other random issues. It seems like an ordeal when its happening to you but is actually a small price to pay for all the other good things this car brings to the table. I just think its a simple problem to fix at the factory & dont understand why it hasent been fixed but I also dont pretend I know what all is involved in getting it fixed.

Hi, fitted some mugen blue o-rings to one side and some ofna red o-rings to the other side rears, ('cos thats all i had, wasn't game to use new xray o-rings)
Done a club day last sunday and so far the rear shocks are dry, pulled down some old xt8 shockes and took the o-rings for the front; suprise - no leaks at the front. The mugen o-rings felt the best for shaft drag. The ofna ones had slightly heavier drag. will go for the mugen o-rings.
Sent off an email to xray support letting them know the issue, got an email the next day asking me to contact the Australian distributor. waiting on a reply.
Would suggest that anyone with same issue contact the xray support team and let them know. Nicely of course. :) Customer feed back on product issues assists them by knowing how far spread the problem is so the can improve. Most companies generally will never admit to there being an issue, but in the background the designers and SALES guys will be investigating. usually the Sales guys ripping it up the designers and Procurement guys. :shock: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Remember that 'the Squeaky wheel gets the oil'.

Apart from that i have no issues, still a damn fine toy. :D
