I pinch as close to the nipple as possable but some times you cant get close. It makes a small diference where you pinch but not much as long as your within a couple inches of nipple. When you pinch it makes a vacuume in the line & fuel simply cant come out of the jet but for a small drop wich makes for a small difference. What I'm trying to say is its better to not burn your fingers than it is to get right up on the nipple as pinch test is only to get you close then on to the track for race tune.
