XRAY - Model racing cars

Hi all, after seeing the lipo conversion introduced for the T2009 (Part 301186) I thought about it and found I do not think that is the best way for this conversion. So I set about it myself developing my own conversion. See pics below, all comments welcome good or bad. Enjoy!





This is the rear part of the conversion, 2mm thick rectangular blocks inserted into the rear. Raising the top deck.



This is the front part of the conversion. 4 quantity 2mm thick spacers were made for the front end. Also note the new 2mm longer chassis brace (original xray part 306513) also note at the bottom of the chassis brace part missing to allow the lipo to be more centralised into the chassis. Also the steering servo (original part 302504) has a custom made shaft which has a 2mm extension on the top half (to prevent unwanted bump steer)











Providing you have the original chassis brace and original servo saver you can turn the top deck upside down to revert back to the original top deck height (that's if you choose to glue the spacers to the top deck!)

Well it's tricky to explain but basically in some cases carbon to carbon the resins can "bind"

I did some work at a motorsport team a few years ago and certain components of bodywork and parts of the chassis (carbon fibre) always had a layer of aluminium between where the carbon fibre would come into contact with carbon fibre.

That's all I can really say about the matter because to be blunt that's about all I know!

Anyway as I said I don't want to debate about the lipo conversion xray has produced because I imagine it has undergone hours and hours of testing with no problems!

In another forum I read what I think would be easier than all the custom length posts.

Someone just took another top plate and cut it, simple and gets the job done.

That way you don't need longer post and servo saver

Why you don´t just get the new xray lipo convertion, it will be easier, nicer and better.

With what i saw in the picture, you have alterate the total surface of contact between the upperdeck and the blocks, it may cause some chassi tweak or in crash it will break easier.
