Electric conversion for 808?

Well.....

I just ordered the original one as the were on stock again. These ones have worked perfectly before and I would like to have everything at home to have something to work on during X-Mas....

Hi,

Just received the rc monster motormounts.... and got annoyed with the dutch tax agency who charged an additional fee for bringing it into the netherlands.... but hey, we're on the electro way!

Small question.... One of the buggies will get the Mamba max combo (esc + CC 'neu' motor as soon as they release it; yet planned january 2009. Will I keep the mechanical brakes or rely on the esc to do this job?

Any feedback / insights are, as always, highly appreciated!

I have tested with both the mechanical brakes and using the electronic esc/motor brakes and I didnt really find any real lap time benfit from the mechanical brakes so I opted to drop them and just run the esc/motor brakes for simplicity and weight. The 808 turns in so well and carries so much speed in the corners I dont even miss the adjustable brake bias.

I would recomend you try it first using the electronic ESC/Motor brakes and see how you like it before adding the additional weight and complexity of the mechanical brakes. I think you will find that once you get the feel for the electronic brakes you will find them very consistent and wont even miss the mechanicals.

However in my XT8 I much prefer the mechanical brakes with adjustable bias. It makes it much easier to rotate the truggy through tight corners. It just doesnt corner like the 808.

For lipo's, I have found hobbyking to be have the best prices. I like PolyQuest, I use the 5S 25C 6000 for my Xt8 and I'm currently running those in my X8b until I can get 4S 25C 6000. I like the runtimes, I get around 30 minutes on my track.

I would also consider NeuMotor Lipos, heard good things about them.
