XRAY - Model racing cars

looks like josh wheeler has a real good shot at a world title ...would be awsome for the team....xrays first off road title....go josh

also to the xray factory i just got my 2nd 808 to prepare for the us indoor champs in january and i noticed a few nice touches in the later kits..like the hudy name on all the shafts.....very trick looking

also i have raced my current 808 29 times now at local and regional events here in the usa(midwest) and the car is just impressive....very little wear after all this time ..and here in the midwest we race in some extreme conditions....ive been in a few mud races this year as well as tracks ranging from hard pack indoor to sandy outdoor and the car works well on all...it really excells in rough blown out tracks compared to other cars.....keep up the good work

anything else that has changed in the later kits?

arms look beefier....fit and finish is even better (if that is possible)


i got one question for the guru's though

when mounting the shock ends into the arm there are 2 different types of screws right thread and left thread.... they tell you to use the left threaded screws on the left rear and the right front...now ive done it since day one and never asked why...after completing this 2nd build i cant come up with a reason....does the left rear and the right front have a tendancy to loosen up? like i said not important but kinda driving me nuts not knowing the reason

Yes you are right its to stop them winding themselves out

what is it about those two screws...if it was from vibration wouldnt all of them be vulnerable to backing out... i guessed it was for that reason what im wondering is what is the driving force to loosen those 2 screws only????does it have somthing to do with how the diffs unload on those two opposite corners?? im missing something here and i feel dumb cuz i cant figure it out.....

It's the shocks. They turn the screws to the outside during compression because the suspension arm rotates going up and the shocks can keep the screw still during that rotation because they put pressure on the screw.

So front right and left rear have opposite threads which keeps everything tight by itself.

The ends of those screws by the buttonhead end, need to be shouldered (no threads).

That way you can add a dab of HUDY grease to make that pivioting action even better .

Those cut threads on the shock end piviot ball, creates friciton/bite and allows the screw to get turned out. The problem was solved somewhat by using right and left threaded screws.

After awhile those threads get beat down (you can see the threads worn away shiny) and there is a bit of slop between the piviot ball and those screws.

Something else to add to the 808 fixit list (shouldered shock screws).
