hi i run my 808 5-5-2 but i see a lot of people are running 3 and 5 in the rear what are the benefits of the thicker rear oil ????

I am also running 5-5-2 but if you go thicker in the rear you will get more drive on the rear but you will loose some steering and the car may push more into the corner.

something about this diff stuff that bothers me. an open diff will always send all the power to the wheel with the least traction.
so on a straight line thicker fluid should give more potential traction .

but when you over power the tires if both are spinning ( thick fluid) then you will not be going straight.

so with that in mind the thicker the fluid the more potential traction up to the point that you cant control the car. yes ?

I've been running 5-6-3. You can mix oils as needed to take the edge off being too heavy. It took me years to learn how diff oils work, but now I can consistently mix oils and get the same results every time. Its like running a .5 anti-squat bushing... just a little change makes the car perfect. Sometimes the sweet spot is an in between oil.

Just a quick questin on running x-ray diff oils in the 808.I run a little odd combo 7,5,1 & filled acording to picture in manual to top of spiders. It seems anything on track that lightens the front end while med to hard on throttle will want to keep the front light for a long time.I'm not flipping but carry the front end for 10-15 feet.I have noticed a couple major things with this car,1.after 4 long race days diff oil is still clear & full & gears look brand new,2.the naptha I use to make other brands of oil disolve with just a swish wont cut the x-ray oil even with soaking & vigorous shaking,3.I am deffinetly driving this car different than I drove the other brands. So from what all you guys have noticed whats the best guess? Are the diff tolerances & quality what I'm experincing,or the x-ray oil not breaking down much compated to the mugen I used to use or just that I'm driving differently(faster & harder on the gas more often)?
The combos I usually use in other cars were 5,7,1 or 5,5,2 or 7,7,1 depending on how well my brain was working & what car I was driving.

I'm not looking to change how the car feels just the front end staying up so easily makes me nervous. I dont like agressive steering & think the more rear traction out of corners the better.
