So what does blocking off one of the pistion holes do to the shock action?
I have enlarged holes on a 2 hole piston & added a hole to 2 hole making it a 3 hole piston(couldnt tell much difference) but have no experience with blocking off one hole of a 6 hole piston.

Thanks for the reply.It sounds like what I was looking for mostly.I need lots of rear traction coming out of corners so I didnt want heavy oil to compensate for the one big table top that everybody just does short & flat lands hard because its faster.I & my reciever thank you for the advice.

So why can't you just put thicker oil instead????

Rocco or the other drivers may be able to add some more details, but simply going heavier in oil will change both the pack and static dampening characteristics of the shocks. Varying the hole size and/or count, along with the oil allows you to achieve the combination of pack and dampening that you desire.

Simply going to heavy oil with the 6 hole pistons will certainly increase the pack and help with bottoming out over large jumps, but it may also have the negative effect of slowing down the suspension too much and prevent the proper weight transfer during corner entry and exit because the dampening will be too heavy. It may also cause the suspension to be too slow to rebound after landing a jump if the static dampening is too much for the springs being used. Using the 5 hole should still give the pack necessary without making the rest of the suspension characteristics sluggish.

If I remember correctly, at a race earlier this year when the team was still in the initial setup testing of the 808, Kinwald and others were messing with many different combinations of oil and pistons, and they found a good balance with the 5 hole 1.3 and lighter oil.

I have been running Rocco"s 5 hole piston set up for a while and love it!!! I tried switching back and the car is not as good.

Is that with 1.3 all round?
