My two cents worth. reality check on the bottom line

Oooo reality hurts!..

I just did some quick syferen and came up with the following amounts..

808 Nitro build cost
• You have the basic kit @ $599.00
• A what ?? OS or EB tuned motor @ $360.00 -$440.00
• Motor mount @ $60.00
• Steering servo @ $130.00
• Radio system @ $220.00
• Painted body @ $70.00
• Wheels and tires @ $65.00

Total Nitro costs = $1,500.00

Stock 808 (E) breakdown:
• 808 kit 599.00
• RCM motor mount $60.00
• RCM battery try $40.00
• MGM ESC $300
• Neu 1512 2.5d s $240.00
• JR Servo $130.00
• Pro-Line Wheels & tires $65.00
• 2.4 ghz radio $210.00
• Lipo 5s 3700mAH 20 C $140.00
• Painted body $70.00

Total cost for E 808 $1,855.00


808 PRO (E) Breakdown

Is it worth it (??) in my humble opinion (YES) but it your eyes maybe not (??) it's TBD at this point.. Just know that a Nitro 808 is $1,500.00 and a E 808 is just under $1,900.00

That's the bottom line / reality isn’t it (??)

what does that answer have to do with buying the 808 over the tq??


in short the 808 is easier to drive,it feels smoother and more consistent than the tq,it has a lot more rear end traction,itsvery hard to loose the rear of the 808.

for me it was big difference in the cars..i could be quick with the tq,but it always felt like it was on the edge.

I was simply stating the facts / bottom line IE the old mighty buck!.

The bottom line clear and simple the 808 is a either $1,500 dollars nitro burning, machine or a $1,800 dollar “E”

he asked wether he should buy the 808 over the TQ model..not wether he should buy electric or nitro..i dont understand what relevance your answer had to this post?

I have to say tdc57, I don't understand a number of your posts...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but on a large majority of threads you seem to always post views on hop up parts or electric 808 conversions, regardless whether they are related to the thread title.

And this isn't a US vs EU thing! Argi was simply asking whether he should upgrade from his TQ to the 808, not what the price differences are between a standard 808, an 808 electric conversion and an 808 with ALL option parts!

As other have pointed out, we should feel fortunate enough to have such a variety of factory produced option parts available for the 808. But they are optional parts that do not need to be purchased to make the car better.

Argi, the difference between the 808 and the previous models are incomparable. The 808 really is a superb car, right out of the box. There are two option parts that I would personally recommend; the one piece engine mount and a couple of sets of different springs.

I've been running my car since they were released, and haven't experienced ANY issues or parts failures. I know the 808 may look a little plasticy, but believe me it is every bit as strong as the previous versions and your TQ, and SO much more drivable.

There really isn't another brand of car I would even look at right now!
