XRAY XB808 Diff Bearing Tech Tip 2008
Only for Rubber sealed ball-bearings used on original 2008 kits.



The ball bearings in the pinion gear assembly carry extreme load. In some rare cases the rubber seal
of the 13x19 bearing which is installed in the bulkhead may become dislodged.
To prevent this we suggest removing one seal on the inner bearing as illustrated.


1) Use a hobby knife and remove one seal on the bearing.


2) Install the bearing with the removed seal facing inside the housing (see image).

Please ensure proper servicing and regularly lube the bearing with grease. We suggest to use the HUDY Bearing Grease.

XRAY XB808 Diff Bearing Tech Tip



The new lighter high-speed ballbearings offer great car performance, acceleration and top speed. Because of their size, the bearings have to be cleaned and serviced more often. To do this, remove all bearing from the car, clean them with cleaner and rag, and regrease them again.



This is especially important with the bearings in the pinion gear assembly as they can carry extreme loads. We recommend using HUDY Bearing Grease after each hour of racing; this will help to significantly extend bearing life as the grease will disappear after some racing time.

1) use a hobby knife & remove one seal on the bearing.



2) Use cleaner to get the dirt out of the bearing. After that, clean the bearing with a clean rag. Regrease the bearing with sufficient grease to fill the whole side.



3) Then refit blue seal.

Only for #941320 Steel & Rubber sealed ball-bearings.





The 13x19 ball-bearings in the pinion gear assembly carry extreme load, and in some extreme situations the rubber seal of the ball-bearing installed in the bulkhead housing may become dislodged. To prevent this, XRAY has developed a new ball-bearing which has a steel seal on one side and a rubber seal on the other side.


1) Install the ball-bearing with the steel seal facing inside the housing as shown.


2) Assemble the ball-bearings in the housing as per the XB808 Instruction Manual (page 10/11, step 2).


Please perform proper servicing and regularly lube the bearing with grease. We suggest using HUDY Bearing Grease.

Bearing changes to 2010 spec cars

For the 2010 car these parts have been changed, for earlier 08/09 kits these parts are required to perform this modification.

The new double metal shielded bearing are just assembled as they come,NO removing of the shields is required



Assemble the ball-bearings in the housing as per the XB808 Instruction Manual & supplementry sheet.



Regular servicing of the bearings can still be carried out using the recommended HUDY Bearing Grease
