XRAY - Model racing cars

I have a werks B3 that has all most 2 gallons on it. After about 4 minutes of driving on the track the car will die and cannot be restarted untill it cools. Then it fires right back up. Im thinking it vapor locking becuse I can hear the fuel bubling in the carb when I prime it or just try to restart it. I checked the temps right as it stalled and I was getting 230 - 245 range. It runs great when running, just wont go more that a few minutes. Is there any way to stop this other than richening it ? The performance really goes down when I richen it more that it is.

A motor air leak can cause that. once it heats up and expands it pulls the leak open somewhere.

How does the glow plug look after it dies?

Still has good pinch after it dies?

Did it run good with no problems with the first 2 gallons?

Fuel lines all good, no pinholes?

Tank o-ring still sealing good?

No knock on the Traxxas fuel, but that's usually pretty high on oil, which will make the motor run hotter. I would grab some 9% oil, 30% nitro Byron's Gen2 (not sponsored by them, I gave up my fuel sponsor to buy this from my hobby shop) and go to a hotter plug. I have heard you want to run a hotter plug when the outside temp rises.

Traxxas 33% is about 16% oil. drop that for another brand if you can. something in the 11 to 8% range. 8% is getting thin, keep it rich if you use that.

Medium plug should be good for 30%, thats what I run.

no way to check for a leak really. seal around the carb base, carb pinch bolt, HS needle holder and banjo fitting washers, backplate as well. just wash up the outside of the motor and apply. This stuff flows well into the little nooks and crannies, and is easy to remove if needed.

This sounds like what i went through this past weekend, ran great for 4 minutes then started lean bogging running temps of 215-220, too rich on the bottom and too lean on the top end. Retuned and ran great the rest of the heats and came in at 208 after 5 minutes, definitely get rid of that fuel first!! then readjust...
