FYI:
I was working on my 808 build, and trying different shock boots to see if I could get any of then to fit/work. Well after some playing around, I may have got one to fit well. I haven't ran it yet, but by the looks of it, it should work fine.
I took one of the TKO "Balloons" boots, and cut them to length. I removed the rubber "10x1.5" O-Ring (970100) from the shock body nut (358140) on the shock. While still leaving the shock body nuts slightly loose. I stretched the Balloon (Boot) Rubber "End-Ring" over so it fit between the Nut and the Shock. Then when tighten up the nut, the Balloon "End-Ring" actually fits perfectly where the 10x1.5 O-Ring would go. Then the spring retainer slides over the cut end of the balloon. Actually, it makes it so the retainer is now very snug again the end of the shock. So the chance of the retainer coming loose is even less.
Again I haven't race them yet, but this is very similar to a method I do use on another buggy. I can get 2 (Sometimes 3) races before the boots are to far gone. At least its a way to keep the shock shaft clean(er) till X-Ray comes out with a shock nut & boot specific for the 808. After measuring, the balloon should have zero effect on the shocks performance...
