I just finished installing mine. used 808 packaged rear shocks, the losi adapters, and grey blues. Havent had a chance to try them out., it's a downpour here right now.

A little dremel sand drumming to the A-arm to be able to slide the adapter down into the arm, and 1 hole on the losi adapter doesent quite line up with the holes on the arm, so you have to ream it a bit, or drill it, which is what I did.. the nice part as well is if the shock holes on your a-arms are a bit loose on the threads, once the screws pass thru the adapter, it threads itself going thru the adapter plastic and everything is secure once again, nice and firm. room to add a locknut on the backside of the shock screw without hitting the outdrive driveshaft.

Slightly longer shock screw is needed on the tower, front tower and back, due to the bushing pieces stacked together.

Plenty of droop setting with the adapters and stock 808 rear shock shafts.

I used the inside hole on the adapter (the hole closest to the diff bulkhead)

I went with 1.4's up front and 45 wt AE oil, and 1.3's with 40 wt in the back. feels a little stiff, but it's just a intial try out. (once it stops raining)

Dude, you beat me to it! I just finished doing the mod too. All I need now is the 808 shocks . . . right?

Rears in place with the silver springs for mockup, adjustment check. the bottom adapter has to sit low in the arm, so some demeling is needed on the arm (not much material on the adapter to dremel away). The way I have pictured now, it seems, is the best tradeoff for droop settings and adjustments.

Fronts slide right on with no mods needed.

Some Ultimate Phenolics and new pads going on.

Just to clarify, you're using the rear shocks on the front? As in the rears how they'd normally be on the 808? Standard shafts and everything? And for the rear you're using the rear shock body and the original XT8 shock shafts? Do you need to use a stopper on the shaft to prevent the piston going straight through the cap?

Thanks mate, considering doing this aswell.

No biggie anfo  , here ya go:

2 sets of 808 rear shocks, assemble as per instructions.

2 losi 8T shock adapters for the rear.

4 longer shock mounting screws (2 front, 2 back) for the towers.

I didnt use any stoppers, just due to the fact that the bottom spring cup will eliminate the piston going thru the cap, so long as the bottom shock end does not fail or is eliminated in any way.

You can bottom the chassis and there is still a slight gap between the cup and the bottom of the shock,,,so the shocks are not completely topped out when compressed. If you land hard on one side, you could compress the shock and top it out, but again, the lower spring cup is going to take the brunt of the load, the tower shock bolts would then bend as well once the a-arm flex is maxxed out (or vice-versa).

Your droop setting screw on the a-arm will eliminate hyper-extending the shock and possibly shattering the shock piston washer.

Rule of thumb,,fly straight and land well ! easier said than done, but you get the idea.

OH so the use of the Losi adapters eliminates the need for XT8 rear shafts, I get it now thaks alot mate. Might start getting ready to do this then :D
