XRAY - Model racing cars

Just picked up an 808 today. The local hobby store received them while I was in there this morning and no one had bought it.

I couldn't help myself. Anyhow it looks great and I'll have to run two classes - truggy and buggy.

I am thinking of putting an OS VZB 21 in it. What do people think of this engine? Or should I bite the bullet and put an OS speed in it?

The Australian price dropped for the 808 from the price of the EC and is not a lot dearer than A-main.

$200! The EC was $859 and I paid $825 for the 808 which I have been told is cheap. Anyhow, I've got it now so it's all good.

Apparently there are only 20 in Oz from this first shipment.... So when you consider there is 4 sponsored drivers we are the lucky few to have them.

Like I said I wasn't in the market for one - just Johnny on the spot.

I just finished my diffs and used the 0.2mm shims to tighten the mesh.

After building X Ray kits before this one is going together very quick. It probably helps that I'm using an electric screwdriver - saves arm pump from occurring.

I just ordered the GRP 21 Mario Rossi tuned with pipe promo deal, hat, full venturi set and spare glow plugs. I have only ever liked OS and/or Ninja engines. The GRP is the updated version of the old Ninja.

It has a long stroke and revs to 43000. Torque and speed!

By the time you add up a v spec and os pipe, it's the same as the GRP. But you get the promo goodies as well.

The downside is like the old Ninja head better than the current orange one.

As long as it performs well, I'll be happy.

Can you run OS P3 plugs in the GRP motors? What plug is recommended?

Good to see you have started supporting the Australian market with your purchase of the 808, now only if we could turn you on all your other purchases

The taper on the GRP/Boss/Falcon engine is sharper than other plugs.

Recommend #6 in winter & #7 in summer.

I try very hard to support the Australian market. I battled for months with CMC to get my truggy, but I hung in there. I have bought all my cars, engines, electronics, radios, tires and Hudy setup tools in Oz so far.

Out of the 8500 spent so far in 9 months I would say 2/3 has been spent here. I run businesses and realize how hard it is for the local hobby shop at the moment. Is till believe distributors in general in Australia have a GP that is too high and do not purchase enough stock to compete with the US, except for a couple including Hobbies Australia.

I'm all about the hobby and have put a huge amount of time and resources into helping MORRCC develop. We are building a new track and with out a doubt it will be the premier track in OZ.
