I have the new Spektrum DX3R and really like it. I switched from the M11. The new Spektrum feels way faster than the older Spektrum stuff. The cool thing about the DX3R is it still works with your older recievers so you can still use them, but you dont get the added speed benfit of the DSM2 with the older Spextrum Rx. The radio comes with one reciever which is what I use in my race buggy. Therest of my stuff gets the older style Rx that I already had and I have no problems with them.
I went with the new Spektrum cuz I didnt want to have to rebuy new Rxs for all of my RCs and the DX3R was backwards compatable with them. I have way to many to even consider it at this point.
I get what you are saying about feeels brittle, but I found that I really think it feels that way becasue its so light. At first I felt that way, but I picket up a buddys radio the other day and was amazed at how heavy it felt now that I am used to the lightweight DX3R.
I personally dont think you can wrong with either of the radios. They are both great systems. I havent ever used a Futaba so I cant comment on from personal experience but those who have them seem to like them.
