The belts will wear more quickly with 38/16 and we are aware of this. It is also more sensitive to belt tension so you may want to try a bit tighter belt setting to solve the problem.
However for asphalt I highly recommend that you use the 34/20 configuration which was supplied as an upgrade pack. It will give minimal wear and the handling characteristics are also a bit different, the car will be more reactive.
With 38/16 the car is easier since it will give more traction but 34/20 will give more corner speed for sure.
