The EFRA 2017 is a 3.5cc pipe.....

If it is true the JL is shimmed to 30% you can take out a shim of 0.1mm but can always give it a try. If the glowplug stays alive and the combustion chamber will not show any detonation it must be ok.

I am not sure which plug you are running, if it is a 7 you can try a 6 before removing a shim.

Hi Gordon,

I've used a JLR Evo3 in my NT1 and they are an awesome engine for the price.

It sounds like you've got things almost figured out already

You will need to remove shims to get the engine working properly for 16% nitro. It comes shimmed to 0.6mm and I'd recommend dropping that to 0.4mm.

And, the picco P1-7355 pipe is an absolute must for the engine. I've tried a few (skyline & nova's) and nothing works as well as the poper picco pipe. Just dont expect too much from the engine until you've got this pipe on it.

i've found the 2017 pipe seems indeed for 3.5cc engines!... don't understand how it fits so well a small block... and why it's dimensions are very similar to 2.11cc pipes (according to efra homologation handbook '07) - i was misled by it...

anyway... the picco 2607 is on it's way...Picco (#P1-7356).. black version of the P1-7355

should i wait for the pipe, or should i test with my current pipe and with 0.3mm shim?

It's certainly better than 0.7mm

0.4mm with 16% works a treat however... ran 2 meetings with my JLR like this and no issues what so ever. Good indication of too much compression is the coil of the plug getting pushed up... this isnt happening.

ps. Dont forget to space the flywheel correctly. I've noticed the JLR's seem to sit back a bit further than normal meaning the pinions dont quite line up with the spurs correctly.

0.3mm clearance does NOT work with the standard JLR Red Dot.

0.4mm is the minimum you can run on 16% nitro.

What does standard refer to? EVO2 or EVO3 or both?

The modified version would be the EVOx labelled as the tuned version, right?

Currently I'm running 0.5mm down from 0.7mm. Temperature is good and power is fine given the mismatched pipe I have. I will not try anything else until I get my 2607.
