XRAY - Model racing cars

Somebody here mentioned that they don't understand why the companies don't recommend heating up the motor when before you start. I thought about that a bit while I was sitting outside waiting for it to heat up. maybe it's because technically, this is like a mini scale car motor. You don't heat up your 1:1 car with a heat gun before you start it up, what's the difference? I read through the RB form and book that came with the motor, and they expect it to be tight and it seems like that's just part of getting a new motor.

a normal engine has piston rings to control compression,these rings are a spring steel so they give somewhat..we dont have that luxury and rely on a close tolerance fit between the piston and liner,hence why the engine is tight at tdc unlike a normal car engine...we heat them to relieve that tightness at tdc when cold so removing stress when starting.

I'm just curious more now than before as to why the manufacturer don't suggest it in their manuals.

The bottom line:

When used properly, heat guns WILL reduce wear/tear on engine parts, hence, extend/prolong the life of your engines.

If your statement is accurate and those same engines lasted 3 years without using heat guns, just imagine how much longer they would last if they used them.
