A question for Martin and the drivers I guess or anyone with 008 on track experience.

First competitive race (EU asphalt/rubber) yesterday and car was a dream. Built from the base setup asphalt/rubber sheet but with roll centres in upper position front & rear as advised by Xray. Inner wheel turn in was 17 degrees

It was perfectly balanced for a tight twisty track that was not giving up much grip.

The only thing, and it was marginal, that could have been better was turn- in, not quite as tight as it could have been for defending under heavy pressure. Now I had left all the manuals and setup books at home. So for the 3rd final I laid the front shocks down one position - ie a quick easy to recover from tune to see if a bit more front grip was the answer. Not a good change though, all it really did was loosen a lovely rear end.

So given a beautifully balanced car I am just wondering the first best step to try and get a tighter or more responsive turn-in guys?

Here's a few things to try (in order). After trying each one, if the lap times drop, put it back and go on the the next one. If they improve, keep trying the others.

* Increase front toe-out to 1.0d
* Close 1 hole in the rear shock pistons
* Add another 1.0mm shim under the rear outer camber links
* Go to stiffer 1.6 rear anti-roll bar

Of course I'd really like to know what Martin would do in this case. :wink:

TeamGP, you missed the most obvious change, reduce caster from 4 to 2 degrees.

In principle no. However with foam tyres side bite is much higher then with rubber tyres so I would expect the car to flip over more easily as the rear tyres will initially dig in more. The same can actually happen with rubber tyres if grip is really high.

Xray, thank you for some great service regarding the free pulley upgrade set. I just send a mail to my LHS and hopefully they will have the set soon.

I have not seen this kind of service anywhere else. So again, superduper.

), but now I just enjoy driving it.
