hi Mario,i understand that XRAY is a top race car, used buy XRAY team drivers, the public then see this hot new XRAY car winning and want one,but could you tell me if XRAY team drivers pay for there XRAY team car?i would say that XRAY make far more money from the public,i think that thoese of us who have had one of the first batch and showed commitment to XRAY should be shown the same commitment by XRAY and sent the off set spur and pinion free, these are not hop ups so its not justifiable for the public to pay more money to solve a problem i would hope that these are put into the other kits as standard and not expected the public to buy them,i hope XRAY listen to this as it would help with PR,
please could i have a responce
thanks
mark

Actually the improvement comes from a lot of different small changes including moving the motor and battery as close to the centerline as is physically possible. While changing just this one thing may not lead to a directly noticeable change in performance it will in fact adversely affect it. Nowadays the competition is soo close that even a few tenths of a second over a 5 minute run can drop you a couple of places.

But, I agree that with the "old" XRay pinions and the 6 cel versions another 0.5mm would have been usefull.

Hi,

The problem for designers today really is the wide spread of operating rpm of all the different motors.
You simply canĀ“t have just ONE transmission/inner transmission that will cover all the extreme gearing needs.

On one extreme end you have the usage of modified motors on a relatively small track. In modified you basically want a motor with as low inner resistance as possible to give you the power which means a very high reving motor with todays rulebook for modified motors.
They need a large reduction in order to not be too fast for the smaller tracks.

With the new EU transmission of 38/16 for the diff and pulley you will have that extreme end covered.

If you study your car you will see that the center of the layshaft is about 4mm higher then the motorshaft and therefore the" lower end" of the long belt is closer to the piniongear then the "upper end". If Xray lowered the center layshaft so that the motoraxle and the layshaft is at the same hight so that the long belt would have an equal distance top and bottom to the piniongear you would not be able to fit a spur bigger then 70T, because it would protrude through the lower chassieplate. And then maybe the smallest of piniongear wouldn't be enough to gear down a high reving modified to a small track.

So the EU transmission have that lower end covered really good while the US-version with 34/20 perhaps has the biggest range but doesn't cover the extreme ends that well.

The other end is the one you describe with low reving standard motors or even Johnson motors on the little bigger tracks.

There isn't a manufactor that has that end really well covered yet in my and many others opinion.
There seems to be a demand for it and I think it would be a good thing to discuss and figure out what would be the best solution.

I know for example if you are going to enlarge the pulleys to 24T you have to make some designchanges to the middle layshaft because the pulleys will be so big that the belts wouldn't have any "guidence" nearest the spurgear. They will most certainly also rub against the top chassieplate too.

But I think it would be a good thing for Xray if they offered this option.
It targets a little more towards the beginners as they usually start with running in the stock class.
Even if they are beginners some really wants a great kit to start with and something to "grow" in. I have seen that. It isn't unusual that kids from other motorsports, like motorcross or carting are looking into rc-racing during their off-season.
If Xray has a special "Stock option package" it could be the "obivious" choice for a beginner when looking for a good car to buy.
They usually think rc-racing is cheap compared to "their" sport and don't mind paying what it costs to have the right bits from the start.
Another good thing that comes with starting with such a great kit is Xrays great durability and low maintence wich will be the cheapest in the long run.
