remember it also has a lot to do with piston hole size and count.

50f/50r wt with 4x1.4 front and 4x1.3 rear is the same as 50f/40r with 4x1.4 on all four shocks.

Some guys preffer to buy all the same shock oil and tune with piston size. Some like changing the weights. But overall, its basically the same thing.

It has to do with steering from what I have read.

Also a good point was made about the volume of the front and rear shocks being different. There is less oil in the front shock so that may change its chacteristics which are balanced with thicker oil then the rear.
