Is it possible to do it on a EVO2 with long arms?
I was thinking of putting a 1mm shim on the rear side of the front arm to 'duplicate' what you guys are doing.
Any of you guys think otherwise?

No problemo!

In the past I've been trueing my tires to 56mm front and 56.5mm rear (measured 13mm from inside lip to center of tire) with .5 degree camber angle.

Today I'm going to test the car on the track with the new in-board front toe-out settings and tires trued to 57.5mm front and 58mm rear. I want to see if I can get double the number of runs out of the life of the tires without any drop off in performance. I'll let you know... :!:

Hey TeamGP, I have an interesting theory.
I race on asphalt and there are small curbs all the way around the track.

I found using inboard toe-out gave me a little less steering on corner entry but made up for the fact that it made the front end of the car a lot more stable both on corner entry and corner exit as well as straight line stability in the front. The reason I think this is happening is because you are increasing the track width of the car and therefore giving the weight that is bearing down on the front-end a greater area to settle on. Therefore the weight is ditributed more evenly across the front of the car.

I have also found that this stops the car from rolling over as easily as it usually would if you just nip a tight curb at low speeds, saving you a hell of a lot of time. Too much inboard-toe out will have the oppositte effect because there is not enough weight to be distributed across the increased area in the front and therefore making the front-end lighter (less grams per square cm).

Does this sound right??

Cheers,
S

TeamGP, thanks for your response.
Are you talking about a carpet setup? Because the shortest wheelbase does not always work very well on asphalt.

However, I'm going to try and test my current setup which I've posted in the setup sheets with some pro-squat and softer springs all round. The weather is cold now on track days so softening up the suspension a little should get the back to stick a bit better with some squat in the rear.

Thanks.

S

I've used shortest wheelbase & maximum track width setups on both carpet and asphalt this year with pretty decent results. We ran on a low grip asphalt track a few times this summer with mod motors and it worked out well, when I didn't have a busted diff or some other problem. :D
