hey guys
my name is Nicholas Orr , im from the Scrccc "www.scrccc.com" our club held the Qld titles 5th - 7th. i just wanted to share the time to let u guys know that the t1r still is one of the most highest performance cars around *my opinion"
anyways, i had no car to run the event until my friend asked me if i wanted to use her car. I was like..... ahh.... i dont know about the t1r buddy, its too much of an old car to run in any competition and waaayyyy too heavy!!! so after some hard thinking about it i decided to run the car for the qld 540 masters as i didn't have a r/stock motor to run or the proper equipment, NOR be about to run 540 cause of the new rule of 2007 " 16's and under only in 540"
so practice came on Friday and after look at the car and setting it up, it felt really good and easy to control. so i was pleased with the times i was pulling out, but something had to be done and off i went Friday night rebuilding the car, cleaning bearings, using 12 month old batteries that hadn't been looked after, i felt as i had no chance. but as sat came, qualifying was a excellent, TQ for the day but i felt i lagged in speed and the weight of the car was the problem 1567 with everything in it!!!!!!
so off i went sat night, thinking hard about how to lose the weight. so i dremelled out some of the bulkhead supports that didn't need to be in the car. and some of the bottom chassis fun watching melting plastic ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
Sunday - it was now or never, i managed to knock off 20grams off the car making it now down to 1547grams!!!!!!!!!! i only had one more win to TQ safely. . . . and i did hahah.... going through all finals i didn't bother to see what i came nor wanting to get too excited to hear about the position i got i finally found myself to be placed 2ND!!!!!!
the car was absolutely tops and extremely smooth to drive, i was shocked that a 7 year old car had fallen into 2nd place. 1st place used a 4month old tc5 and 3rd used a t2007!!!!!!!
this just shows that upgrades are sometimes just a small part of speed, and mostly comes down to how well the car handles and how good the driver is, and in this case the driver was awesome!!!!!
i find this to be a shock so i decided i wanted to share my story and hopefully the man "Hudy" himself, reads this fantastic story how the first on road car he made is still going strong
if he does could he please email back to final.product@hotmail.com or anyone else who wishes to discuss or chit chat about this story
but mostly i hope i hear form Hudy himself ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
