XRAY - Model racing cars

I hope with the new car and design that they've done something with the driveshaft pins. Mine just like coming out, I race on a slippery surface with a spool. It's either find a solution or go to a diff.

I agree, the CVD system is the weak-point of this generation of cars. The barrel-pin design is inherently on the edge of failing, and very sensitive to wear and tolerances. I was looking at an offroad truggy a few weeks ago, and it had true CVDs like a fullscale RWD truck has in its driveshaft.

For the most part, my CVD pins stay in. It's only after a full rebuild, including CVD rebuild, that a few (of the eight on my two cars) will become loose within a few runs. I simply re-center the pins and tighten again, and they'll hold until my next rebuild. I don't use a locktight/threadglue.

I only have two tips (not magic secrets!). Don't over tighten the grub/set screw, and when a pin develops flat spots (I blame the brushless motor, not the wall impacts), switch it with an axle-hub or bodypost-washer pin.

Think about it......

If X-ray follows its history then the next car release will be the Nitro T2 with a lot of metal parts.....

12 scale... Dunno... Can X-ray be innovated enough to make a big splash in that class? Another brand will release it's 12 scale concept next month ( I'm on the early kit list ) and it has some real great ideas engineered into it.

And what about 1/8 scale nitro.... Will X-ray move into that market????

from a website I have found suggests the team were testing a new car. This at the European championships in France last weekend. Of course no pictures were allowed to be taken but an eyewitness describes the car as the following
"The car has longer wishbones, smaller shocks, a new divided upper deck (top deck), other bulkheads, a new rear belt (like another brand) and a smaller chassis"

I have copied this from a website, nothing has been confirmed on this statement, but it gets me excited already. I can hear the money in the piggy bank shaking. Well, a couple of years ago you had a poll and a 1/12th circuit car came out as most wanted.

Our national series starts in a couple of weeks and it looks like I'm gonna be swapping my trusty other brand car for another brand car.

I do wish Xray had listened - the quality of their design could have been a world class car had they put the effort into it...
