XRAY - Model racing cars

I would like to get some clarification, I am not familiar with differing lengths of springs as I come from another brand car, but my question to all after assembling the shocks and all 4 are of the same length and dampering is set now comes the adding of the springs.

What I have noticed there are sets of varying lengths, when I put the short ones on the shocks there is alot of play, even when I the collar is rolled nearly to the end of the shock treads.

Am I doing something wrong or that is just the way short springs work??

Its normal, when the car is lowered to the correct ride height, using the threaded collar, the slack is taken up and the shocks are great. With the weight on the wheels, you can put the collar almost to to the top and the springs still have tension. Also, you will notice the front shock tower is shorter.

To get the right ride hit as stated in the manual, do I have to true the tires, the reason I am asking when I use stock jacos, and try adjusting the ride height with the collars fully raised I only get 8mm, and not the specified 6.5.

Would I have to look for a tire truer??

I am using the aluminium shocks and red springs from the other brand and that works fine, enough thread left on the collar to adjust rideheight and tweak etc.. Rideheight would be 6mm rear and 5/4.5 front, maybe lower on the back if notice i need to get lower.

Right now i am not racing the car but am making laps to figure out how to set it up best for my driving style. I hit the best time i had with the other brand real quick so that's good

As for tire size i think i need to use 62 - 59 to get a 1:1 drive? Havent tried different tyre size's, i have a couple sets tyre's allready trued for the brand i was driving before so i'll use those to get the right "feel" for the NT1.

Thanks cyclops, I tried adjusting the ride height with new tires 62/64 and as you correctly said the ride height went to 9mm. I will try 63mm because the track is like sandpaper on tires and I would like to breakin my engine on some old or very tall tires.

But if 63mm works for getting the correct ride height I can true some tires..
