The engine mount is not a necessity but it would absolutely be the first option part I would get if I were you. I have never run my TQ without it. If you run aluminum front and rear braces all the flex goes to the middle of the car and the mount prevents the clutch bell from hitting the chassis under extreme conditions such a missing a big jump bad. But the EC comes with plastic braces so I don't know if that could be a problem.

The biggest benefit to the option mount is the ease in which you can remove and replace your engine. I have no idea which mount would go with the XTM engine. I would run 444 in the diffs since you are not used to buggies because it would be easier to drive than the thicker fluids.

thanks for the info on the diffs. I guess the question now, is do I need to jump out and buy one since the braces are composite......or do the braces need to be replaced as well?

sounds great........now can anyone help with which one that I will need to buy when I do decide to buy it. If nobody is familiar with the XTM engines, can someone tell me how to measure the bolt holes (left to right, or front to back)?

Personally I think it depends on what kind of track you run on as to wether the one piece mount is worth it or not. If your track has a lot of really big jumps then it will help to save clutch bearings and your gears. As far as removing the engine goes, I would say its just as easy to take the motor out with the regular mount, just get a Hudy ball end 2.5mm allen driver! Thats about half the price (or less) of the one piece mount.

With the one piece mount though the only difference between the picco and Nova mounts are the small blocks your motor bolts to, so you can always just pick up an extra set of small blocks of the other size so you dont have to worry. Although I was able to fit my Picco motor onto the Nova mount (barely!).
