I have just recieved my NT18 kit. Do I need to lube the diffs etc? Do I need shock oil? Apologies for this is prob a stupid question but I am fairly new to the hobby.

No, the shocks are simple shocks without a real piston and sleeve setup. You can use it as a friction damper using a drop of differential silicon-oil like 50.000W but that wil only be usefull to finetune the car, a minus point is that it will hold dirt.

The geardiffs do not need grease but because they are compleetly sealed you may use some plastic grease but again: you do not need it.

I have been racing the nt18 all last season and there are some things you shut install to make it real fast. balldiffs, adjustebly schoks, and roll bar in the front. the schoks you can lube but to be honest I don´t think you can feel any difference.

Shocks are friction style shock, that doesnt use oil. There are different spring for them and shims. Off the market adjustable shock, adjusting ride height.
A good viscous lube for the diff, would be nice to lubricate ball diffs. You have ball bearing with steel friction plate that could use lubrication, and if you upgraded to carbide, it would be nessesary. Your LHS will carry the lube you need..
If you have the stock spider geared diffs it wont hurt to lubricate the gears.
