I had the silver springs too. Came with my XB8R. To me they felt softer than the whites but it was very close. My guess would be they were identical except for the powdercoat.

I cant wait to get the new EC. I had the XB8 but sold it because it was so hard to drive on a really rough track. I was really happy to see all the features of the EC. Its everything I wanted and a whole lot more.

the XB8 I picked up had little use actually. and today I just picked up a TQ that was used in a Team Helotes conversion for a couple races (plus other goodies)...

I hope they do make a conversion. this stuff I picked up is in great shape. I traded off all my stuff from last year for an FG..

Hey Wheelnut, I might be coming to Grand Prairie again. I had 3 points too many on my drivers license last year for the job (only allow 6 points in 5 years) but today's my birthday and I lose those 3 points. Just waiting to hear when the hiring freeze is ended then I am gone. Woohoo, Alberta racing rocks man.... and making better money helps too lol

A conversion kit will be great as I just bought a TQ 2 months ago and it has yet to be raced. Or maybe I will just buy an EC so I have a spare car!

Check out the newly posted XB8EC setups:

Euro style track
xform/index.php?act=view&ID=2&setup=xb8ec

US style track
xform/index.php?act=view&ID=3&setup=xb8ec

There you can see the possible settings for kick-up, caster, antisquat, and rear toe,... I believe all these are the same as the TQ.

I am not sure if they had different part numbers or not. Anyway, the main point is that the parts were completely different and it never was a conversion kit for the TQ. The parts that were included definitely had different geometry from the full kit.

Probably when the full XB8TQ kit came out, the Euro 05 TQ suspension pieces were completely replaced with the refined geometry of the full kit's new pieces and they used the same part number to do that.

Before the TQ came out when the XB8 became the European TQ (coincidentally) the rear pin mounts had 1 more degree of Anti-Squat than the current TQ pin mounts (ranging from 3-5 degrees of anti-squat). When the TQ was produced the range was decreased to 2-4 degrees of anti-squat, and subsequently they made a running change to only the front of the rear pin holder to compensate for this change in the 35 3301 (TQ suspension conversion set).

And you are correct, there was no official conversion kit, there were only the two part #'s 35 2301 & 3301 for the front and rear suspension, respectively. While there were other small changes like captured steering links, the suspension geometry was the 'major' difference between the kits.

This should clear up any further controversy!
