Dear all,
I found that the motor mount of T2'007 cannot cope with Tamiya's standard 540J motor (the standard motor that comes with nearly all Tamiya's entry level RC car). Unless you make some modification to the motor mount by yourself, otherwise, the 2 motor screws cannot go through the motor mount and hold the motor firmly in T2'007. I found that this problem only happen in T2'007, the original T2 does not have this problem.

Not sure whether team Xray knows this problem or not, will Xray fix this motor mount problem by providing a revised motor mount to the market?

Thanks! :)

You have to understand that the '007 isn't designed for that motor. Its designed for the main 3 classes, 27 stock, 19 superstock and modified. Plus the '007 is designed to be a very competative car and a 540 isnt exactly competative. :)

Yes, I could understand that 540J is not a quick motor. However, different country has different RC race classes. In my home country, we've a particular race class for 540J motor, that's why I hope 540J can be fitted into T2'007. And in fact, it's a bit odd that T2 doesn't have this problem, but its successor does.

It isn't odd - it's refinement.

maxch is correct in that the T2'007 was designed with the main 3 international motor classes in mind.

However, from what your describing wouldn't a longer set of screws work? Or is the motors diameter and/or screw hole placements different?

Yes, it seems to me that I've to do some modification on the motor mount to fit 540J motor.

However, I raise this issue on this forum is because I hope Team XRay notice the issue and take care 540J motor in the future new car release.

Thanks!

You can get a 540j into the 007 but its not ideal. I ran a tamiya sports tuned motor in mine for a enduro event. 48 minutes of motor burning fun.

The only way I have found to get a 540j or tamiya sports tune motor in to 007 is to use longer screws and thick spacers on the motor side to clear the large bush on the motor.

This will move the motor further out. The other problem you will have is the top deck will have to be removed to change the pinions as you won't be able to get to grub screw on the pinion

Dear 50 lemons,
Thanks a lot for your suggestion.

Did you mean that after I move the motor further out, I won't be able to get to grub screw on the pinion without removing the top deck? Or this is just a common problem to all motors?

Thanks a lot! :)

Yep the grub on the pinion will not be accessable without removing the top deck. I was not prepared to grind the motor plate out just to run a 540 for a enduro.

when you run the normal motors ie stock, 19turn or mod you won't have this problem.
