At my club the primary car to run is an xray with about 60% of driver using them. But a good majority of the '007 drivers, including myself, have noticed that the belts snap far too often.

I think i know what happens though. The belt turns over so the teeth are pointing up on one pulley and down on the other. It then becomes very tight and eventurally snaps.

My question to you all is why do the belts turn over. My belts are not too tight or too loose yet they dont lie flat. Ill post a pic when able.

strange - never heard of this
belts may come of the pulleys if they are too loose, but shouldnt snap.

are you all running the same tightness setting
the centre hole on the diff mounts is the standard setting.

I've never had a problem with my belts on my T2 until last race day. Didn't notice anything at the track, but when I got home I noticed the belt was flipped. I'll be adding that to the list of things to check before racing.

This has happened to me when I didn't clean the gunk out of the front pulleys teeth. The belt would stretch intermittently as it rode on top of the gunk and this caused it to deform and then finally flip.

I've also had it happen when I ran my front belt too loose, or had my bulkheads/eccentric bearing holders slightly cocked and not truely straight.

Just make sure all of the teech on all of the pulleys are clean. If so, check to make sure each pair of the eccentric holders are positioned the same in the bulkheads and then loosen all of the chassis/bulkhead screws and tighten them back down again.

I noticed the gunk accumulating after a few packs. I check it every race now, and clean it once a race night, or when needed.

Mario, If the extra power from batteries and motors could cause this, and I don't see why not, could a possible solution be slightly wider belts. This would of course increase drag but the extra power delivery and improved reliability should more than compensate for this.

The feedback and fact is that the current belts with current specs are still a good compromise between the performance and life time (despite the fact that the life time has decreased due the higher power used today). Therefore any adjustment to the current specs will have to go to at an expenses of of the performance. It is suggested to be more carefull and inspect your belts more frequently and if the belt shows some higher wear then it is safer to replace for a new one. If anything will change in future you can be sure that XRAY will react and perform adequate actions and provide sufficient improvement. At this moment just the belts work still very good.
