Main gear breaking

we only found out about the lightning spur fitting because one of the main XB8 drivers in the UK who also runs a hobbystore had broken another spur & there weren't any XRAY spurs available! he had to go through his other buggy stuff & match one up!

i've not had a clutchbell issue yet, but then i've been using a Kyosho 15t bell!

I have seen this phenomenon happen when people are landing at WOT and the buggy is not hitting the ground with the forward speed. Also when on loose gravel tracks when the grains get into the mesh, but as for the mesh setup I'll take your word. Even if it was that I think the softer bell would give out first.

Just checked the buggy after a day's practice and my spur lost a tooth as well... it seems my gear mesh was a bit askew.

Oh well... this will give me the excuse to rebuild all the diffs after 7 gallons to see how well the original diff oil holds up.

I can get a Lightning 2 spur gear, but I'm wary that it would be heavier than the stock one... can anyone confirm?

yes it is heavier, i can't tell you by how much without stripping things down

but then isn't reliability worth a few grams :wink:
