I have a question about the steering pre-load setting for the servo saver,
in my manual it is advised to set a gap of 2 mm, when i hold my wheels and turn the steering with the transmitter the servo can easaly push through the springtension left and right, is this a good setting or are you guys setting more pre-load. I use a Sanwa ERG-VX servo with a lot of torque.

how old is your manual?
is the kit a xb8 TQ? or R?

mine is a TQ, and I think it calls for a 1mm setting. It seemed a bit small and I set it for 1.5 I'll check a bit later.

It is a R kit that i bought about a year ago.
I also noticed that in the manual for the TQ that i downloaded it says to make the gap 2 mm.

I have the actual manual for the TQ, and it says initial preload is 1.0mm.
I just bought the kit a week ago, so I'm guessing its pretty new. Maybe they're putting a stronger spring in the newer kits???

I'll post a picture, if I can find the add attachments option...

EDIT:picture taken from the XB8 manual I downloaded a little while back:

Well that's probably what it should be then according to XRAY, it says initial setting so i'm wondering if there are users who change this setting.

I can imagine when entering a corner hard a stiffer setting will increase steering into the corner when you have sufficient servo torque.

i have erg-vx also, and my spring is set to 9 mm preload (almost locked).
the steering have great response, and nothing breaks even at the hardest crashes.

I have an 13 kilo torque servo, and i have set it so thad the holding power of the servo is eneugh to push the wheelt trough the servo saver manualy.

Moving power, wil just, put it trough just nearly either, but with great effort.

Dotan: That is a big risk for my new (expensive) servo but i can imagine that is will give a lot of steer.

Psygho: I'm not quit sure about what you do setting yours, do you mean that you apply pressure to the wheels when the servo is under power and the transmitter is on and you push the wheel until the servo holding power gives?

first of all, that servo is very strong, a lot more that you can think. in friend's mugen the servo horn broke and servo survived after a really big crash. the best servo i ever owned.

second, the servo saver preload doesn't effects steering that much. it's affects more on steering response and keeping the wheels at the disired direction when driving over bumps.

I already heard that the servo was greatly appreciated by racers how also say it last a very long while, it is good to hear that you also have good results with the servo.

I will try a view different tensions the next race that i will participate in, and see how it hold up.
